The Little Soul

Once upon a time …

There was a Little Soul who was looking down, watching Earth. She was very impressed by everything that was happening down there and she thought that it would be wonderful to live there. Every day, she ran to her special place from where she had a good view of Earth. Each time, she sighed: ‘I wish I could go there.’

One day, while she was dreaming about what it would be like on Earth, she suddenly heard a voice that said: ‘Would you really like to go to Earth?’ Surprised, she looked up. An old man with a long white beard was standing next to her.

He gave her a friendly smile.

‘Who are you?’ the Little Soul asked. ‘I’ve never seen you here before.’ ‘I am here to make you an offer,’ the old man said. He sat down on the grass and invited the Little Soul to come and sit next to him. ‘I’ve seen you sitting here several times and I’ve always heard you say that you would really like to go to Earth. I am here to tell you that it is possible if you really want to.’ The Little Soul stared at the old man in surprise. ‘Is it really possible, just like that? But how? Earth is so far away; I can’t go there just like that.’

‘No, not just like that,’ the old man said. ‘Many things will happen before you can go, but it is possible.’ The Little Soul jumped up and started dancing. ‘Hurray,’ she shouted, ‘my dream is coming true. I am going to Earth!’

The old man watched her, smiling, and said: ‘Come with me. I’ll explain to you what it is exactly that you have to do.’

Happy, the Little Soul took the old man’s hand and walked away with him. ‘Where are we going?’ she asked. ‘We are going to my house. I will help you prepare for your big journey if that is all right with you,’ the old man answered. ‘Yes, of course,’ the Little Soul said, ‘I think this is so exciting.’

After a short walk and a lot of talking, they arrived at a beautiful place with magnificent flowers, butterflies, birds everywhere, and a nice house in the middle. ‘Is that your house?’ the Little Soul asked, looking at it in admiration. ‘Yes, that is where we are,’ the old man said.

‘Come and enter with me.’ Inside, the Little Soul didn’t know where to look first. One room was even prettier than the other and everything seemed to glow with light.

The man took her to a room with two cosy chairs. ‘Make yourself comfortable,’ he said to the Little Soul. The Little Soul let herself fall into a chair with soft pillows. The man sat down in front of her and smiled. ‘So,’ he said, ‘you really want to go to Earth?’ ‘Oh yes,’ the Little Soul said eagerly. ‘Okay. Then I’ll tell you how to do that and what will happen. Are you ready?’ ‘Yes, I am very curious,’ the Little Soul said. And the old man began his story.

‘When a soul decides to go to Earth, this is what happens. First, you accept that you will forget who you really are and where you come from as soon as you connect with Earth. It feels like putting on a veil of forgetfulness. This is a very conscious decision.

Then, you sit down with other souls to make plans and contracts for your life on Earth.

You choose your parents and the lessons that you want to learn during your lifetime; you also write the script of how these lessons will be played out.

There is one very important thing that you should know. You have free will at all times. This means that nothing is completely written in stone. When you do your best to listen to your inner voice as a human, you will always pick the path that leads to the highest outcome. If you don’t do that, however, you will take the long way to reach the same goal. Do you understand?’

‘Not entirely,’ the Little Soul said. ‘What is this goal that you are talking about?’ ‘See this adventure as one big game,’ the wise man answered. ‘When you go to Earth you make the conscious choice to forget everything about Home. The idea of the game is that you try to remember everything during your life on Earth. In other words, you try to remember that you are not just a body, but a soul in a body and that you are made up of pure divine love and glow with light that is visible to everything and everyone around you. The goal is to bring as much love and light to Earth as possible and to help other souls remember who they really are.’

‘Oh, what a wonderful game,’ the Little Soul sighed.

‘I can’t wait to join in.’

‘It won’t be easy, though,’ the wise man warned her. ‘It takes a lot of effort for a soul to look through the veil of forgetfulness and even then, your view will never be perfectly clear. There is one more thing that you should know. Your energy is so large that it doesn’t fit into a human body. A big part of your soul remains here. You can always connect with that part to ask for advice.

This is the part that we call the Higher Self. It is the inner voice that I was talking about. If you listen to that voice very carefully, your life on Earth will be great. So,’ the wise man added, ‘do you still want to go?’

‘Oh yes, absolutely,’ the Little Soul said, ‘when can I go?’ ‘First, I am going to take you to another place,’ the wise man said, ‘where you can prepare for your big adventure.’

They stepped outside and walked towards a tall mountain. On that mountain was a beautiful white building with an enormous golden dome. When they arrived at the building, a glorious angel stepped outside to greet them. She had beautiful shiny blond hair and friendly blue eyes that beamed at the Little Soul.

‘Ah, there you are,’ her soft voice said. ‘I was waiting for you.’ The Little Soul looked up at the wise man in surprise. ‘Yes,’ he said, ‘I’ve already told them that you were coming.’ ‘Do you want to come in,’ the angel asked, and she took the Little Soul’s hand.

The Little Soul followed her, not knowing what to expect.

Suddenly, she looked back and noticed that the old man wasn’t following them. ‘Are you not coming with me?’ the Little Soul asked astonished. ‘No,’ the wise man said, ‘This is where we part.’

‘Oh, I am sorry,’ the Little Soul said honestly.

The wise man said: ‘When you come back from your big adventure on Earth, we will see each other again. I want to hear all about your experience, okay?’ ‘Yes,’ the Little Soul said and she hugged the wise man. ‘Go on now,’ he said, ‘and enjoy!’ And then, he was gone. ‘Come,’ the angel said, ‘let’s go inside.’

Together they walked to the big gate.
